Field Cars and Trucks
When I first started this project I got caught up in the process of trying to create "field art" out of forgotten and rusting vehicles. I enjoyed hunting down as many different makes and models as possible. In the process of searching the Internet for the year these vehicles were made I learned a lot about the automotive industry. When I came upon an abandoned farm yard with more than 10 derelict cars, two trucks, 3 combines, various grain augers and a small dozer with a 40 cm tree growing between the blade and the engine I was happy for the discovery of this great wealth of rust. However when I happily went from car to car snapping pictures I, like my friend George, couldn't help but wonder why.
A big thank you for friends and family that helped me locate some of these vehicles and especially the land owners that allowed me to come on their property to take these pictures.
The biggest surprise was finding the 1959 DeSoto simply because I don't remember ever seeing one on the road.
My personal favourite image is of the 1960 Studebaker.
